Cracking JEE Advanced 2021 and securing ranks

Things students should keep in mind while preparing for JEE (Advanced)

  • reinforcement of concepts
  • proper application of concepts
  • Practice JEE Advanced level problems
  • Attempt Mock Tests As Much As You Can
  • Make the most of your time and prepare short notes
  • Stay calm and stress free from the threat of COVID-19

How to make sure you rank high

Students should avoid selective study, follow no short cut method. Due to the high number of questions in the objective type papers, all the major concepts/topics are likely to be covered in a few questions by combining the concepts of different subjects in a single question.

Students must remain focused and strictly follow the well-planned timetable of revision.

During the practice session to solve mock test papers, the student should aim for 100% hit rate i.e. all attempted questions must be correct. This will enable a competitive edge over others who will be left behind in the race due to negative marking on wrong attempts. No negative marking questions should be attempted as there is nothing to lose with a fairly good chance of maximizing the marks. Good speed and accuracy will also allow you to finish JEE Advanced papers ahead of time, leaving some time for revision and solving the remaining questions.

Periodic checking of the progress made by solving quiz/mock test papers should be done on regular basis. Here, the basic idea is to increase speed and accuracy as a result of the effort working on known weak areas.

At the time of revision, practice mostly application and concept based questions.

Last 15 days strategy for the candidate

The theory/drawings should be quickly revised from the flagged notes giving equal time to all the three subjects. The formulas should be on tips while chapter-wise and topic-wise thorough revision should be done.

One must examine the flagged notes and ensure that one only goes through tricks and innovative ways to solve problems. Do not attempt any new question in the last 3 days.
