Relationships are challenging for anyone, but for someone struggling with a health condition, illness can make things more complicated.

Adam Barrow, author of This week’s modern love essay, Spoke to his wife Darla for the first time, as she was troubled by an unconscious disease brought on by an eating mess. As their relationship progressed, he did not hide his struggles and did not try to save her. Years later, he came across a study on how the diet can react to kissing suggestions, in this essay, he wonders whether love can help cure illness.
