To get admission in these institutes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, candidates have to clear JEE Advanced and GATE respectively. The medium of instruction in all IITs is English.
India is home to some of the top rated IIT colleges such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur); Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kharagpur), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Hyderabad), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Indore), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Indore), Indian Institute of Technology Institute (IIT Varanasi), etc.
Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree is the most common undergraduate degree in IIT colleges. IIT colleges offer a number of postgraduate programs including MTech, MBA (only for engineers and postgraduates in science) and MSc. Some IITs offer specialized undergraduate programs like (MDes), Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT), Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST), Master of City Planning (MCP), MA, Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law (PGDIPL) ), and the Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Operations and Management (PGDMOM).
Engineering degrees are offered in various specializations. Some of the most prominent are as follows:
- Civil Engineering
